The Kearns Dance Project is a contemporary performance and creative medium to support and promote the artistic work of Lauren Kearns.
Lauren has choreographed over fifty professionally produced concert pieces nationally and internationally. Her work has been co-produced by: Florence Dance Festival, Florence, Italy; Accademia Europea di Firenze, Florence, Italy and Pompei, Italy; Body-Mind Centering, Ghent, Belgium; La Manufacture Danse Center, Aurillac, France; Open Performance Series, Movement Research Center, NY, NY; Fringe Festival, Greensboro, NC; Greenhill Center for NC Arts, Greensboro, NC; NC Dance Festival, Greensboro, NC; Highways Performance Space, Santa Monica, CA; City Government, Changshu, China; Brand Library Series, Glendale, CA: Spectrum Dance Series, Hollywood, CA: Dance Under the Stars Festival, Palm Springs, CA; Haugh Performing Arts Center, Glendora, CA; and the Fountain Theatre Festival of Solos and Duets, Hollywood, CA. Kearns holds her M.F.A. in Choreography and Performance and an M.A. in Dance Education and Theory from UCLA, national certifications in Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Classical Pilates and a master level certification in Alignment Based Yoga. In addition to her professional dance career, Kearns is a Professor of Dance, the founding Coordinator of the BFA and BS Dance Program, and the Chair of the Elon University Department of Performing Arts. She has written scholarly articles on her somatic dance technique and multimedia research. Her textbook, Somatics in Action: A Mindful and Physical Conditioning Tool for Movers, published by Handspring Publishing, was released in fall 2017.
